Thought of the Day 2010 #222 - Tasks

This week is crazy busy for me at work and at home. I feel at times I let myself get mired down by the details of the task more than the effort it takes to do the task itself. I worry about the potential success and or failure more than I should, too. I wish I were able to do, do, do, and not stress about things. I should probably count myself lucky that I am able to work through the muck most of the time. I know that for some, the details are completely overwhelming and they end up in a nearly catatonic state. I'm not there...yet...

My brilliant idea for today -- automatic translations through chat applications like AIM, Yahoo, etc. Simply select the language you speak. The individuals on the other end would select their native tongue. *magic happens here*, and you can communicate freely with anyone, anywhere in the world.

It's so dark early in the morning these days. Sometimes, I wonder if the sun will come at all.

Did you belong to any clubs/organizations in high school or college?

In high school, yes. I was a major joiner. I was in drama and Thespians, voted president of Thespians in my senior year. Chemistry club so I could geek-out. I was the editor of the yearbook, and helped with the video yearbook, too. I tried debate club a few times, but never really liked it much. That's all I can recall off the top of my head.

I spent hours and hours and hours today making spaghetti sauce and salsa from the garden. I think I'm done for the season. Oh, hell, I wish I were done. Still plenty of things to harvest and freeze or can. Anyone else out there abuse their free time like I do??

Thought of the Day 2010 #217 - Chocolate Season

Chocolate season officially kicked off yesterday with the purchase of some Halloween mini candy bars. I put it off quite a while as Halloween candies started showing up in late August. I don't know why I can eat a dozen minis at a time, but never want more than one regular candy bar at any time. The psychology of it is, I'm sure, something I definitely don't want to face.
Anyway, happy chocolate season!

Thought of the Day 2010 #216 - Fall Colors

Looking through the 300+ gorgeous photos from my camera, it seems that the longer I look at them, the harder it is to discern the good from the not the best. They are all good, but I want to fund the best few...but it becomes all a blur. How can one pick the best of the best?? So hard. I'll try to pick a couple and post them here this week.

What is the best and worst thing about the town you live in?

Best? Low crime, sleepy bedroom town. Worst? Rapid growth is causing heavy traffic in some areas which in turn is causing road expansion which is causing older homes to be torn down... Bottom line is that progress is favored a bit too strongly.

Thought of the Day 2010 #215 - A Bunch of Noise

Frito Lay announced recently that they are discontinuing the use of biodegradable packaging for SunChips due to noise complaints. Yes, they actually want us to believe this. Sure, there were probably a few complaints by those using hearing aids needing adjustment, and maybe a handful by the actors on stage when disrespectful audience members brought SunChip snacks. Aside from that?? Yeah...that's what I thought. Crickets were overheard on the bag complaint line.
C'mon, Frito Lay, what is the real reason??

Thought of the Day 2010 #214 - More Bully Action

A few months ago, bullying was hot, hot news. This week, it's in the news again with even more kids committing suicide after being bullied.  The focus is, as it was, on ending the bullying rather than fortifying kids' emotional health. Aaaack. We will never rid society of bullies or other haters by legislating or praying for them to be gone. Just assume they will be around, and plan on giving your kids coping/fortifying tools to keep them happy, mentally healthy, and alive.

This is from the year 2000. Our office used to put on Halloween festivities. This particular year, victims came into my office and I scared them with stuff on my huge (it was normal size at the time) computer monitor. I had a squishy ooze on the desktop that I tried to con people into touching, too. Good times.

If you could have dinner with any 10 people (dead or alive, from any where in time, history, fictional characters etc)...what would you serve?

If these are dead people, I'd try my hand at fugu.

If they are fictional characters, I'd serve alphabet soup.

If they are alive and well, I'd serve lasagna with garlic bread. Yum!

Thought of the Day 2010 #212 - Really Real?

I saw a television ad for Sonic tonight that mentioned that they *now* have *real* ice cream in their shakes an other ice cream treats. Really? Real? What was it before??

I live within half a mile of Sonic and in seven years, I have only been there twice, so this ad doesn't really affect me beyond my funny bone. It also confirms that their food not only tasted like crap, but there is a chance it was actually made from crap.

If your favorite article of clothing is a swimsuit (which was your answer when you were asked what your favorite article of clothing was), then why don't you pose in one on your photo of the week shoots? ...anymore

There's been several PotW in swimsuits recently. They're not full body shots, but I'm definitely in the pool and in a swimsuit.
