Thought of the Day 2010 #108 - AZ Immigration Law
even know how to comment on it aside from: It's stupid, racist,
unconstitutional, nutz, short-sighted, and nazi-ish. I just find it so
irritatingly wrong on so many levels. Arghhhhh!

What's the strangest piece of unsolicited advice you've ever received?
Interesting question. I don't know if it's advice, per se, but one time someone told me that I am not religious because nothing bad has ever happened in my life. Of course bad things have happened to me. Lots of bad things. Were they suggesting I try to create more bad things in order to find faith? I really don't know.
Oncoming traffic is just about the scariest thing on earth and I'm not paranoid! I imagine it almost daily but try not to focus on it too much so that I don't freak out and swerve. :(
Yeah, I do that, too. Just maintain composure...and look straight ahead...
glen beck just blew the lid off the pol/eco nightmare. My god! They're all criminals. $trillions at stake. Now it all makes sense.
hehehe. I'm sure Glen Beck didn't blow anything except hot air. That's not to say that lots of politicians aren't criminals.

The look in your eyes would not be of hunger or anger. It would be the look that I'd melt to and would long for for the rest of my life.
Awwww...sweet!
Just checking in to your new site. I'm lonely for you guy #3 LOL. So what else can you do? Can you fall from a tall tower and prove it in a pic? LOL. How about float around in a dress? I'm well aware of some of your powers :)
That's right....I can do it all! Super powers to the rescue!

Do you know how to weld?
Yup. I've been trained in acetylene and arc welding. It's been years, but I think I could still pull off a decent weld line if I had to. (I think this could fall under "things we didn't know about Cat and had no idea that I should ask it." Most excellent question!
Thought of the Day 2010 #104 - Fashion Forward
I hope you dont mind me sharing the link to our trailer FAT, a new feature documentary that explores size acceptance and size discrimination. Please visit our site at www.fat-film.com Thanks so much!
Don't mind at all. Your documentary looks interesting. Good luck with it.
You seem too young to be a grandma! How old are you?
I'm old enough to be a grandma! I'm *muffled guttural sounds* years old.
TotD 2010 #102 - 'member me? I don't know Cat, if I only saw you once several years ago, I'd remember you. And it wouldn't be because I'm under a spell. You have that look in your eyes that I wouldn't forget.
Thanks.
By the way, I hope "that look" isn't one of hunger...or anger...or something like that. It's a good thing, right??
Twilight. The appeal escapes you because you're one of the few still sane people left.
There's quite a few sane people left...they're just vampires.

#96 Lots of parents esp in lower class lack parenting skills, so schools have to pick up the slack. In fact, almost all parents are severely lacking. No wonder the world is crazy.
I would agree that a lot of parents lack parenting skills, but I don't really think the problem is any greater in the "lower class".

One time I was bullied by a big stupid brute in middleschool. I just told the teacher and the teacher took care of that problem fast and effectively :)
You were lucky to have a teacher that cared. Big stupid brutes suck!
I have three questions. I understand if you would rather not answer them. 1. What is you present weight? 2. What is the highest you have weighed? 3. What is the lowest you have weighed (as an adult)? Thanks.
1. I honestly don't know. 450ish? 2. I honestly don't know. It was when I was 20ish and taking care of my mom when she was dying. Probably 500ish.
3. I honestly don't know. I would guess 375ish. I was able to wear size 26 tops (even non-knit ones) without trouble. Never could wear a size 26/28 on my bottom in my adult years.
Do you have pets?
Kinda, sorta. I live on a hobby farm, so we have lots of animals -- dogs, cats, sheep, and chickens. None of the animals live inside, so while I enjoy petting the cats and dogs that wander the property, I don't consider them as my pets. I think if they were inside and slept on my bed, I'd call 'em my own. My last pet, Kipper, died a couple of years ago after 18 years of faithful companionship. I would feel funny replacing him, too. He was with me most of my adult life, so it was kind of like losing a member of my family.

#96 That's from your perspective. I think it takes more than parental involvement. It might take req courses in grade school thr HS. It's that bad. I know of several cases.
Of course it's from my perspective. All of this crap in my blog is from my own perspective. :-)
I don't understand, however, how classes in school would help to encourage self-esteem. It just doesn't seem like the appropriate place for development of solid self-worth.
I do think there should be civics classes which would emphasize respect for fellow man.
have you ever been to minneapolis?
I have, thousands of times. I worked in Minneapolis and lived in Saint Paul for many years. Why do you ask?
What inspired your interest in creating the picture montages? They are quite interesting, and a few of them are incredibly sexy..
I'm a bit confused. I'm not sure if you mean my artsy fartsy photo collages (http://www.catay.com/2010/03/few-more-digital-collages_25.htm) or my Photo Selections of the Week?
I only think the latter because you said you find them sexy and I don't consider my artsy fartsy collages as "sexy". Maybe? Write back and let me know to which you were referring. Thanks!

Thought of the Day 2010 #97 - Evening News
like 1/2 sports. Does this qualify as "news"? If they have so much time
dedicated to huge profit making industries, why not have 15 minutes
dedicated to movies every night? More people go to movies every day than
attend sporting events. Really, I don't want coverage of things like
that, but it would be interesting to have a bit more breadth and depth
to international happenings rather than just 30 seconds of international
happenings.
Thought of the Day 2010 #96 - Bullying Part 2
Do I think tht bullying is SOOOO wrong that it's criminal? Nope. That is unless it's physical violence. But, physical violence is covered under other laws, so really, anti-bullying laws are primarily covering verbal assaults.
I strongly believe in the "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words cannot hurt me". Sure, words CAN hurt, and they do, but to kids who have decent self esteem, other's negativity won't have much of an impact. Kids with a healthy dose of self esteem will more easily deflect a negative attack.
The coverage of the girl who committed suicide after being bullied is tragic. But are the bullies really to blame for the suicide? Bullies can cause foul moods, they can make you sad, they can make you think life is worthless, but in order to actually commit suicide, I suspect the poor girl had other issues going on. Maybe she didn't have a strong support system at home or she may have been suffering from a chemical imbalance, etc.
I don't want to "blame the victim", but in the case of suicide, it's hard to exclude the obvious -- that the victim IS to blame for her ultimate demise. The bullying was a negative which combined with other situational factors which encouraged suicide. Because the bullying is somewhat tangental to the actual suicide, I don't think that it's a criminally prosecutable situation.
Finally, I would encourage parents to work on establishing healthy self esteem for their kids to make them bully-proof.
--Help them to recognize their strengths.
--Give them a solid home life to provide a "safe zone" away from the negativity of the world.
--Teach them to understand why bullies say what they do - instill a belief that the bully is pained and just lashing out. It provides a empathetic response rather than allowing the attack to reflect inwardly upon the child.
Providing a wholly defensive strategy for the kids will minimize the bully's effect in childhood and going forward in life -- 'cuz you know there are bullies LONG after leaving school.

i don't like spring. i keep stepping in surprises in back yard
It's more than just the poo! Stop and smell the flowers!
was wondering if you'd tell more about your experiences #92
Primarily I was bullied because I was a fat kid. I'm sure you can probably imagine most of what happened. Primarily verbal assaults, but there were a few physical that come to mind. Specifics are pretty vague at this point. But I do remember getting pretty good at responses that shut bullies up by the time I was in high school.
One that just came to mind -- a kid would say "Hungry, Hungry Hippos" at me on the bus day after day. I ignored it day after day, but one day I got him to stop by grabbing his wrist hand and inflicting my sharp fingernails into his skin. And I would NOT let go until he stopped. Most times I didn't resort to violence, but since he was close by (the bus seat behind me), I thought it came in pretty handy.
Hello, my name is Luis Fernando, the truth I have looked at his(her, your) blog and she looks like to me a woman sensasional and admirable, in addition it(she) is very pretty. Since in all his(her, your) photos it(he,she) demonstrates the natural beauty of

lambs bouncing and frolicking around in the back fields, fresh air
through newly opened windows, and needing to crack the window when
getting into a closed car but it's not so hot as to cause butt sweat. So
lovely.
Bad things include spiders (four in one day in the house), chicken
massacres by yet unknown critters, thawed poop surprises in the back
yard and large tax bills.
But, all in all, the good far outweighs the bad. It's a beautiful time
of year.

Thought of the Day 2010 #93 - Carnival Mirrors
I'm 5'4" and 104 lbs and I ordered the size 0p. It fits great and hits right at the knee, which is perfect. The top fits me pretty well and I am very small up top (32A), so I'd imagine it will be tight on most people with chests larger than about a B or small C cup. One thing: it has a very full skirt and flares quite a bit at the hips, which makes the waist look tiny but can make you look bottom heavy if you have full hips (which I do for my size). I'll probably keep this one, but wish it weren't quite so full in the hips."104 pounds and wearing a size zero...and she's got "full hips" for her size. How much of a hip issue can this *fatty* have?! It's just crazy talk and so completely sad.
Thought of the Day 2010 #92 - Bullying
thoughtful response to the idea of criminal prosecution of bullies.
Hopefully, a thorough TotD will be coming soon.
You're a very open person but I still find you totally enigmatic. That's not really a question. I just wanted you to know. ~cheesygrins~
I think you're probably just picking up on the fact that I don't expose everything about myself online. There's LOTS of me out there, but there's still some things I reserve for those who know me best. Dang, that sounds too open. Trying to zip..it..up...
Thanks for the comment, Buffie!

So what are the lies Glen Beck tells?
Umm...I don't know, but I suspect if his lips are moving..
I think you may have me confused with someone who posted a comment on a previous post. I didn't say he was a liar. I just said he was a conservative nightmare. Well, maybe for a conservative, he'd be a dream come true. For the rest of the world: a nightmare.
Rockstar is rather wimpy. There are stronger energy drinks out there but may cost an extra $1/can. Monster works better than Rockstar for the same $. Also light roasted coffee has more caffeine content than a dark roast. Did you know that?
I always just assumed the darker the coffee, the more caffeine. I didn't actually know it though.
Monster, Rockstar, Red Bull. Clearly, these are all designed for men. I better go get a mocha or a latte so I can be all sorts of girly.
HS pic. Awwwww now isn't that the most beautiful face on earth? XO
Umm...I've seen more beautiful. Definitely more beautiful. Thanks for the compliment, though.

particular stuck out as pretty amazing -- puppet warp. Funny name, but
if it's able to do well what it's designed to do, it will be incredible.
Basically, you can adjust photos of people and change the actual stance,
arm placement, etc. just by selecting the person, and changing the
location on selection points. Nifty.
Another thing that will be cool -- being able to adjust lens distortion
automatically based on the EXIF data in the image itself. Pretty slick!

I love the Flashbacks! I was just wondering if you might be doing any new shoots like the ones from the past?
Thanks! Maybe some day. Gotta keep watching...and waiting...
Oh hey speaking of mormans...I almost fell outta my chair when radio talk show host Michael Savage said he never met a Morman he didn't like LOL. An ex-girlfriend in Seattle was a Morman....second sweetest babe I ever met after yoohoo :) -B
There's lot of nice Mormons. But they're not all nice. Promise. They're just like real people. You know, I think they may just be real people.
Taxes....I finally gottem made out and mailed...whew! I sure dread April 15th.Oh Glen Beck said he got auditted this year....just a co-incidence he said wink wink ...after he exposed the corruption in the white house.Beck's a mormon. Was one anyway.
You gotta stop listening to to Glenn Beck! From what I hear, he's still a Mormon...well, unless he got audited by the LDS church, too.
Thought of the Day 2010 #89 - Income Taxes
Tax codes are so complex due to all of the exceptions, exclusions and
benefits for the few. We really need to streamline this process while
eliminating the inequity.

Most of my angels complain about the cigar smoke. But when I tell them where they can go if they don't like it, that shuts them up real fast! Geo Burns.
George, is that you??
no doubt about it. you are an advanced being. if i were to rebuild the world, i'd put you in a top spot. and we'd all be in good hands. plus you'd keep us entertained with your humor and other people skills. you're one super special babe.
B, you're starting to sound Mormon. Watch out.
Any chance you would occasionally go back to doing a photo of the week in the likes of #200? If not, I can understand if it’s your hubby holding you back but if that’s not the case. Go for it!
Hey...the recent flashbacks are from the same photoshoot! I think they're quite nice, thank you. Thanks for your question!

About how many times do you go to Vegas annually? Where is your favorite place to stay when you're there? What's the largest amount of $ you've won and lost there?
It really depends upon the year. This year is a bit unusual. So far three times and I'm a bit bored with it, really.
I stayed at the Wynn most recently and that was a lovely spot. I've been there for dinner and gambling before, but never stayed in the rooms. They are VERY nice. Will be going there again, I'm sure.
Often, we'll stay at Palace Station -- just off the strip. The tower rooms there are pretty nice and updated. Some of the rooms around the pools (courtyard, I believe) are lame.
Largest amount won -- probably only $800 or so. Lost -- about $600 in a trip. Aaack! The losing trips are nooooo fun!
#79 Member your first trip gambling and the bells and whistles went on and we yelled we won we won ....and a single quarter ping was heard by a crowd watching us two fools think we won?
Classic gambling good times! I still tell this story 'cuz I was a nooB at teh gambling.
Why did Neil Diamond write that song about Caroline Kennedy?
Hey, that's long before my time. You may want to ask Neil directly.

Thought of the Day 2010 #86 - Sometimes
Most of my relationships (romantic/friend/family) are somewhat superficial...we don't often talk of serious things, or don't speak of serious things on a depth that is satisfying for both parties. Or, often, the discussions are very one sided. Most of the time, it's fine -- I enjoy the relationships and even if conversations are one sided, there is some level of satisfaction, but I often genuinely crave more. That craving is the root of feeling alone.

with something more surprising than the giant painted watermelon "Easter
eggs" that I hid a few years ago. It was da bomb! Shocking for the
hunters to see such big eggs and funny trying to see kids carry them
around after finding 'em. heh. It was brilliant, if'n I might say so
myself.
