Thought of the Day 2010 #203 - Health Scare

I've been a bit absent from the blog because I have been spending a great deal of energy worrying, stressing and sleeping to avoid the stressing and worrying. I noticed blood in my urine the other day. Crap! There's not supposed to be any blood in your pee! Of course looking online provides plenty of fear inducing details of what could be wrong. Bladder cancer seemed to be my best bet since I really didn't have any pain as most people have with infections. Great. Bladder cancer. Ok, ok, more than likely i don't have bladder cancer, but the definitive test results aren't in yet. What I do have now, is some giant antibiotic horse pills in hopes that the blood is just a low level UTI. Cross your fingers!

Please keep us posted on your condition. Those of use who follow your blog think of you as a friend. I will add you to my prayer list (if you don't mind) Harry

Cat I am thinking of you. I googled UTI, Several sites stated blood in urine as a common symptom of a UTI.

Please, please, please (!) keep us updated. Oh and don't worry (if that is possible) more than one site I quickly scanned said stated that the most common cause for blood in urine is a UTI. It is good you were checked by a doctor.

I have had a UTI and it is painful. I have heard that drinking cranberry juice can help treat a UTI.

I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks to both of you for your prayers and thoughts.

Paul, most UTIs don't have visible blood, but rather just the kind you cannot see. Most blood in the urine cases are only detectable at the doc's office. I was peeing and seeing dark red, pink, red, peach, etc. That's why it was pretty scary.

I've had quite a few UTIs in the past...normally painful and really obvious after you pee. Maybe this one is a different bacteria? No idea. I haven't received a call from the doc about the test run on the pee sample, so I assume the antibiotic is going to do the trick.
I'm going to go back in a week or so to get another test done to see if the bleeding is completely gone. I was still seeing blood today, so who knows?
