Thought of the Day #27

When having blood drawn and you're given a choice between a woman that
barely passed nursing exams and one that placed in a national blood
letting competition(I'm sure there's a nifty official title, I don't
know what it is..), go for the blue ribbon winner. It makes for a quick
and painless experience.

We have a lab in town. That's ALL they do. Draw blood all day long. I really wish my (well meaning) doctor would stop trying to draw my blood for tests because compared to them, he sucks. I've often been told (by doctors or nurses) that I have "difficult" or "small" veins but the people at the lab? Never had a problem. Painless and quick.

Yeah, there's something to be said for experience!

The last time I had blood drawn was for an insurance physical, about 4 years ago. The nurse who ran the physical specialized in blood type medicine (phlebotomy, I think?). I didn't feel a thing, and I told her that. She said, 'You're not supposed to feel it. If you feel any pain, they're doing it wrong.'
I love dealing with people who actually know how to do their job.

This was my first experience with experience. Normally they go rooting around in my arm trying to catch the vein. I'm glad you two have had better experiences!
