I suck...

Just sharing a little bit of my kitchen adventures...or misadventures as the case may be. I received a vacuum sealer for Christmas, the kind that you use to suck the air out of bags in order to preserve foods (or other items) from spoilage or pests. The other day, I went through the cupboard and sucked and sealed until I had most of my left over dry goods (left over chocolate chips, nuts, beans, grains, etc) compacted and preserved. The little bugs that crawl through the kitchen lookin' for goodies are going to hate me! Then I went to the fridge and sealed the dried and frozen fruit as well as cheeses. Who knew this useful little device would be fun, too? I had some left over coconut that went from a huge bag of fluff, down to a solid baseball size mass. I don't know whether or not the coconut will stick together and retain the ball shape. The day I cut the rip cord and release the coconut from its air-free home I will know. Come to think of it, I test vacuumed some grated cheese. Methinks that may actually retain the solid shape. Oops. Yeah, so fun!
