3 1/2-ton satellite to fall to Earth tonight -- if ya don't see me around after tonight, this could be one reason why. :-) I know the chances are slim, but I think I saw the Mothman this weekend. Ok, I saw the movie, but still...the mothman *was* there. It's significant. Really!

Three Two-Minute Movie Reviews:
  • Ali -- An exciting man defeated on the screen by a boring movie. It was disappointing in it's depth. You won't learn any more about Ali's personal life that you don't already know. The boxing scenes were dull, dull, dull, and those were the highpoints. I did think that Will Smith did a decent job in the portrayal, however. C-
  • Gosford Park -- An uppity English period piece/murder mystery with a very real, down to earth personable comedic edge. I loved the performances as well as the characterizations of the common-staff and "upper crusties"...and of course the intercourse between them. (Double meaning inferred!!) I would love to see this one again. Good show! A
  • Black Hawk Down -- All the stress of war that you can handle as realistically portrayed as I can imagine. Gore, guns and guys....ya can't look away, but ya really want to. If you're at all squeamish about blood on the screen, don't see this movie. B+

It's come to my attention that I've been on AOL for hours today/last night. Well, I wasn't there. I'm not being rude. I have a new cell phone that has AOL/AIM messaging on it. I've tried to use for a few minutes last night and well, I didn't know that I had to direct it to sign me off in order for it to show me as being offline. I thought just ending the call would do that, but nooooooooooo. Arrrrrgh. I had quite a few IMs that were in my IM cache but not all of 'em. My cell phone was listening but I wasn't. Sorry to those of you who thought I was being rude. Technology happens. :-)

Ahhhhhh... 50 degrees in January...in Minnesota?!!? That's only about 35 degrees above normal. Will wonders never cease? Of course I'm trapped in my office, but darn it, my Weatherbug is having a good day in my systray.

Two Minute Movie Review--
  • In the Bedroom -- Grief, anger and revenge are all superbly displayed in this film. You'll feel it deep in your gut...as you share it with the actors on the screen. An excellent, emotionally potent film. Spacek will no doubt be an Oscar nominee for this film. She was phenomenal, as was the male lead, Tom Wilkinson. Very, very powerful. A

Well, since it is the new year, I suppose I'm somehow obligated to divulge my resolutions. Well, ok, not obligated, but I feel I should bare my soul to ya'll since so often ya see almost every other part of me. So, here it is...the big resolution of the year. *drumroll* I hope or endeavor to eat less salty foods. There I said it. Now, watch, tomorrow I'll be "chip hounding" again, but dammit, at least I have put the resolution on the table. Table salt? No, no...I don't ever salt foods at restaurants nor at home. It's all that evil hidden salt that's come to my attention. Go to Taco Bell, order a burrito and take home 79% of your daily sodium intake. That's the kind of salt I'm talkin' 'bout. I suppose the real resolution might be better stated as "I hope to make more home-cooked meals" rather than going to restaurants or fast foodie places. It'll save on salt as well as money! Time on the other hand...well, that's gonna be the catch, isn't it?
