Another Interview

I know I haven't been keeping up my blog as well as I used to. Boo.
Here's an interview I did with Sin City Bounty regarding You'll see me do a fab Minnesota accent as I tell the story of my worst date ever. Good times:

Dancing Trees

I took this photo this past weekend at Mount Charleston, near Las Vegas. I loved the tree's resemblance to a dancing couple.

My "First Date" Dress

The other day, when digging through the back of my tiny closet of doom, I found my beloved "first date" dress. I wore it A LOT, not to say I went on a lot of first dates. OH, hell, yes I did. LOTS. I would wear it usually on dates in the fall/winter since it is a heavy dark green velour, with a rope tie at the waist. I thought it was kind of classy, simple and nice and warm for Minnesota winters. It was from Dayton's/Marshall Fields, and was one of my first garment purchases that was over 100 dollars.

I proudly hung it on the back of my office door to reminisce.

Ivan sees it. I exclaimed, "I went on a LOT of first dates in this!"
To which he said, "You went on first dates in that? It looks like a monk's robe."

So, ummm, yeah, so it does.

It's difficult to reconcile in my brain. The guys I met in this beast of a dress seemed to like me in it, as I was asked out on second dates fairly often. Maybe it was *in spite of the dress* as I can see that it's a pretty hideous garment for a first date. Nuns and monks don't usually get asked out on second dates, do they?

At this juncture, some ~mumble~ years later, I want to apologize to the guys with whom I'm still friends that were subject to the green monstrosity -- sorry for dressing like a nun on our first date. I appreciate that you were able to see beyond the velour nightmare.

Sometimes the timing and lighting is just right for a photograph.
This is one of the few photos I've taken recently that I've liked. I feel as if I've lost my "eye" for pix. Ah..well...

Nothing Says "Good Eats" like Our Feather Friends Hanging Dead in the Dining Rom

This 19th century pasel piece was found in a woman's garage. While the pastel work is beautiful, the subject matter for the dining room wall is a bit...ummm... old school. These days, we like to believe our dinner flesh comes from a plastic package. Ducks and quails strung up just doesn't ring "good eats" for our modern society.

Meet My Newest Friend

This is Charles. He was kind enough to pose for photos before he scampered off in search of some lunch.

Out Takin' Pictures at the Great Salt Lake

My step-son-in-law snapped this shot yesterday. I think it's purty sweet.
Let me tell ya, I hate, hate, hate walking in sand. Once I got close to the weeds, the sand was light and fluffy. I was quickly in past my ankles and thinkin' I was in quicksand. Luckily, I made it out alive.

Has Spring sprung in Utah Yet? And, what have you got planned for this years garden?

Not quite sprung yet, but it has been lovely. Nothing unusual for the garden. Just basics like tomatoes, peppers, corn, beans, etc. I wish we could grow carrots or cruciferous vegs, but they don't do well in our soil.

They come at night, mostly.

Went up north hoping to see the aurora from the most recent sun flares. Unfortunately, no flares, but I did figure out how to take some pretty star shots. I feel like I've developed a new toy! The possibilities of night shots are endless. It takes a LOOOONG exposure time (30 seconds or so), so one can't be too creative in the winter cold, but come out!
By the way, the shadowing in these shots was from a full moon. It turned the night into day!
